Celebrating the Class of 2019
Ohio Wesleyan celebrates its 175th commencement, with Class President Caroline Hamlin ’19 telling the graduates, “Our opportunity to influence the world and create positive change for the well-being of others is in our hands.” Keynote speaker Diane Petersen ’66 adds, “[K]now what makes your heart sing and move in that direction.”
‘A Momentous Day’
Ohio Wesleyan announces $23.56 million in gifts and pledges, including the largest single contribution in OWU history – a $10-million anonymous contribution. Much of the new funding will support work to renew the residential campus.
Cirrus Robinson ’20 will defend her national high jump championship Friday when she competes in the NCAA Division III outdoor championship meet in Geneva, Ohio. She also is a two-time national champion in the indoor high jump.
‘Powerful and Powerless’
OWU students visit Washington, D.C., to explore “Crossroads of the Powerful and Powerless.” Their trip includes meeting with lobbyists and politicians, and working with groups seeking to reduce poverty.

Learning to Legislate

2019 Student Symposium
More than 60 students present the results of original research and other projects at the Student Symposium. The annual event highlights the breadth and depth of the OWU curriculum and experience.
Graduate Research Fellowship
Nathan Scinto-Madonich ’16, a doctoral student at Cornell University, earns a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. At OWU, he worked for two years on professor Chris Wolverton’s NASA-funded plant research.
Ready for Business
Karen Gray joins OWU as administrative director of The Woltemade Center for Economics, Business and Entrepreneurship. Gray brings more than 20 years of higher education experience to her new role.
