Orchesis 20/21OWU’s student dance company, Orchesis will perform outdoors this month in a physically distanced, progressive dance showcase. The show will debut online Oct. 29 during a registration-required event.
Noah Green ’21 is recognized in a national Composers Competition for “Watercolors.” The piece combines sound much like “an artist might take two different pigments and combine them to make hundreds of different colors,” he says.
Passionate About Politics
Annie Miner ’20 is completing a political campaign internship, learning “the importance of the on-the-ground advocacy” and “how much work and effort goes into electing political figures.” After graduation, she hopes to attend law school.
Forming FIJI’s Future
Jack Foley ’21 is elected to a two-year term as the Undergraduate Archon Councilor for all Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) fraternity chapters throughout the United States and Canada.
Ohio Wesleyan selects 16 first-year students as 2020-2021 Economics Management Fellows in recognition of their high potential for success at OWU and interest in business-related studies.
Professor Chris Wolverton earns a three-year, $449,921 NASA grant to continue his research into how plants respond to gravity. The work will be conducted at Ohio Wesleyan with the assistance of OWU students.
‘In the Studio’
The Ross Art Museum is launching its first Facebook Live series of artist talks Oct. 25. The three-part kickoff will share the voices of black artists and feature Darryl DeAngelo Terrell, Johnny Coleman, and Andrew Wilson ’13.
The OWU men’s soccer team, under the leadership of head coach Jay Martin, is selected as a “Program That Inspires” by College Athletic Advisor. OWU is No. 4 on a list of 20 schools named nationally.
Lucas Cooper ’21 is a semifinalist for the 2019 William V. Campbell Trophy, an award recognizing the best football scholar-athlete in the nation.
A Great Eight
Ohio Wesleyan is inducting eight former Bishop standouts into the Athletics Hall of Fame and bestowing the Strimer Honor Award upon Catie Butt ’91 and the Gauthier Award upon Charlie Hartigan ’75.
Teams of Distinction
Ohio Wesleyan will bestow Team of Distinction honors upon the 1976 men's lacrosse team and the 2000-2001 women's basketball team in recognition of their extraordinary contributions to OWU athletics.
