Bishop Scholars
Sai Suresh Kannan ’24, Camila Morales ’25, Carlos Coello Escoto ’24, Gabby Gonzalez-Duarte ’26, and Tiwa Adediran ’25 tutor third-graders at Columbus Bilingual Academy North as part of Ohio Wesleyan’s grant-funded Bishop Scholars program. OWU tutors also assist youths in the Delaware City and Buckeye Valley Local school districts, helping the children recover learning lost during the pandemic.

Bishop Elevate
OWU announces a new Bishop Elevate initiative to help first-generation students persist to graduation. Thea Smekens will serve as the first director of First-Generation Student Success.
Brigadier General
Deydre Smyth Teyhen ’93 will serve as the keynote speaker May 13 at OWU’s 2023 Commencement ceremony. She is commanding general of Brooke Army Medical Center in Texas.
Wrestler Recognition
Tyler Bodovetz ’25 earns Scholar All-American recognition from the National Wrestling Coaches Association. He led the Bishops with 26 wins and six tournament placements during the 2022-2023 season.
Hampshire Honor Society
Football players Ethan Brooker ’23, Trevar Meese ’23, Travis Sanders ’23, and Tyler Shuster ’23 are selected to the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame’s Hampshire Honor Society in recognition of their academic and athletic success.
All-Ohio Champions
Battling Bishop women’s track & field athletes Khloe Dubenion ’23 (shown), Eleanor Luttman ’25, and Ari McPheters ’23 win individual championships and the OWU 400-meter relay team earns an All-Ohio title at the All-Ohio championships.
All-Ohio All-Stars
OWU men’s track & field athletes Antonio Sonego ’24 (shown), Trey Theobald ’25, and Kory Kaiser ’25 win All-Ohio honors at the April 15 All-Ohio championships. They compete, respectively, in the discus, javelin, and 10,000-meter run.
