‘Helping Me to Achieve’
Students will work with homeless and runaway children, study special education in Ohio and Ireland, explore Latinx theatre, and more using new OWU Connection grants. Alena Arnold ’23 used a grant to travel to Chile.
World Ranked
OWU ranks among the top 8.3% of 19,788 universities worldwide, according to the 2022-2023 Global 2000 list. The rankings are based on quality of education, alumni employment, quality of faculty, and research performance.
A New Challenge

Phi Beta Kappa
Ohio Wesleyan inducts 38 Bishops into Phi Beta Kappa – the nation’s oldest academic honor society. Only 10 percent of all U.S. colleges and universities have chapters of the prestigious honor society.

OWU appoints Megan Ellis (left) as executive director and professor David Markwardt as associate dean of the university’s signature experience.
Spring Student Symposium
Ohio Wesleyan students share research and creative work at the university’s annual Spring Student Symposium – a showcase of the breadth, innovation, and quality of their 2021-2022 work.
A First-Year Foundation
Associate professor Ashley Biser is named faculty director of the first-year seminar to help students develop the foundational academic skills they need to flourish as liberal arts learners.
Phi Eta Sigma
Ohio Wesleyan taps eight first-year students for membership in Phi Eta Sigma, the nation’s oldest and largest honor society for first-year college and university students in all disciplines.
Staff Stars
Three OWU staff earn Special Thanks and Recognition (STAR) Awards this spring for their stellar work. The newest STARs are Jason Timpson (shown), Tracey Little, and Judy Arlington.
Mortar Board
Ohio Wesleyan inducts 16 students into the Mortar Board national honor society. The organization “encourages lifelong contributions to the global community.”
Accounting Fellows
Ohio Wesleyan selects four students for its Accounting Fellows program, giving them access to enhanced internship, research, and other opportunities.
Latham Scholars
Ohio Wesleyan selects six students for its Latham Scholars program, designed to develop them into the next generation of business trailblazers.
Corns Scholars
Ohio Wesleyan taps three students for the Corns Business and Entrepreneurial Scholars Program, giving them access to scholarship funds and exclusive learning opportunities.
Scholar-Athlete Awards
Astrid Koek ’22 wins the highest honor – the Presidential Award – at the annual Dale J. Bruce Scholar-Athlete Awards. The honor recognizes OWU’s top athlete and person.
800-Meter Man
Levi Kilian ’23 will represent OWU on May 27 in the preliminaries of the 800-meter run at the NCAA Division III men’s track & field championships. He won the 800-meter and 1500-meter runs at the North Coast Athletic Conference championships and repeated as NCAC Distance/Middle Distance Runner of the Year.
OWU Champions
Peyton Howell ’23 and Ari McPheters ’22 will compete May 27 at the NCAA DIII women’s track & field championships. Howell will compete in the high jump and McPheters in the shot put preliminaries. Howell won the NCAC title in the high jump, and McPheters earned All-NCAC recognition at the NCAC championships.
2022 Reunion Weekend
Nearly 900 Bishops came to campus May 13-15 for Reunion Weekend — the first on-campus reunion celebration since 2019. Among the weekend's highlights was the traditional Parade of Classes.
