Ben Arnold ’20 completes a Cancer Summer Research Fellowship at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Arnold explores how to treat non-small cell lung cancers more effectively.
Leadership Institute
Elle Peifer ’21 graduates from the Nonprofit Leadership Institute hosted by the Yellow Springs Community Foundation. “Giving back to the community is very important,” Peifer says.

Professor of Classics Lee Fratantuono, an internationally recognized authority on the poet Virgil, has published six new papers in scholarly journals in six countries, including his 50th article on the ancient Roman poet.

Amy Butcher, assistant professor of English, writes a new piece for The New York Times exploring Alaska’s environment, arts, and their ironic interrelation.
OWU: Our World Needs You
The Sagan National Colloquium kicks off August 26 with a film screening and virtual discussion of “42,” the Branch Rickey-Jackie Robinson story. Rickey’s grandson, Branch B. Rickey ’67, will take part in a virtual discussion afterward.
‘Hi, Are You Single?’
Ryan Haddad ’15 performs his solo show ‘Hi, Are You Single?’ August 30 as part of the Sagan National Colloquium. Haddad’s television credits include “Bull,” “Madam Secretary,” and “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.”
‘After/Before’
Renowned photographer JoAnn Verburg ’72 shows her first OWU exhibit at the Ross Art Museum from August 21-October 20. Verburg’s photos have been displayed in venues including New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).
Going for the Goal
The OWU women’s soccer team is predicted to finish fifth in preseason balloting by North Coast Athletic Conference women’s soccer coaches. The Bishops’ kick off their 2019 season August 30.
