Healing Hearts
Landry Cowles ’20 is working at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota to help researchers better understand how to treat babies born with heart issues. An OWU Connection grant is supporting her experience.
Bankable Experience
Sophia Ahmed ’20 is interning in Texas with Citi Bank’s Global Consumer Banking and Technology Department. Fellow Bishop Shadman Zafar ’94 recommended Ahmed for the 10-week summer internship.
Passion Within REACH
Alex Emerson ’21 is helping teach gifted African American middle-school boys this summer and learning about new career opportunities. His internship is part of the Summer on the Cuyahoga program.
Nourishing Body and Mind
Abby Bowman ’20 and Emily Sheridan ’21 use an OWU Connection grant to travel to Italy with Health and Human Kinetics professor Chris Fink. Together, they explore the interconnectedness of food and health.
Career Connection
Leigh Mascolino is named director of career development for OWU’s Career Connection. Her duties include helping students successfully transition from college to career or graduate school.
NCAA Scholarship
Former men’s soccer standout Nick Norman ’17 earns a $10,000 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. The OWU honors graduate is pursuing a master’s in public affairs at Indiana University.
Knowledge Grows Here
OWU’s Moore Greenhouse boasts nearly 500 plant specimens. Its climate-controlled rooms recreate a tropical rainforest, desert, and temperate region similar to Ohio’s climate. (Photo by Pirlo Soe ’21)
